These notes summarizes PICOS 3.6 new features, new hardware, known bugs, and bug fixes. Best practices recommend that you read all the content before upgrading to this release. For more detailed feature information, refer to the configuration guides.


 PICOS is the recommended release to use with Dell N3000 Series platforms.

MLAG is re-designed. And it is much differernt from previous versions. Please refer to the configuration document to have the details.


Show System service-tag
Add new command - "run show system hwinfo service-tag" - under operational mode to show service-tag on Dell hardware models.


Refactor the Output of "run show lldp neighbor"
Add a new column - "Capabilities" - to the output of "run show lldp neighbor"


New SNMPv3 MIB SNMP-USER-BASED-SM-MIB is added under L2/L3 mode.


Configure VXLAN via OVSDB
VXLAN can be configured remotely via OVSDB. And MAC addresses learned can be synced to the OVSDB and vice versa.


Dynamical VLAN Overrides Voice VLAN
If the returned RADIUS access accept message includes an extra Pica8 vendor-specific-attribute (VSA)“device-traffic-class=voice”, the dynamic VLAN will take precedence over the locally configured voice VLAN.

PICOS switch sends start/stop accounting message to RADIUS server for supplicant's 802.1x/MAB authentication session.
121323.6.2Response to session-timeout Attribute
If the returned access-accept RADIUS message has attribute session-timeout after MAB/802.1x authentication, the authenticated session will be expired after a period of session-timeout and start a new authentication process.

If the client device is not authenticated via 802.1x or MAB, DHCP packets are allowed to pass through the switch.

The installed license and the password of first login will not be lost after rebooting.

121293.6.2Use Space Key to Terminate Countdown
Due to upgrade2 process, will enter 10 seconds countdown before rebooting the system. User can only press space key instead of any key to end the countdown and abort the upgrade process.

Port PICOS to new Dell hardware models S5224F and S5296F. S5224F supports 24x25GbE SFP28 ports and 4x100GbE QSFP28 ports powered by TD3 X5 (BCM56771). S5296 supports 96x25GbE SFP28 ports and 8x100GbE QSFP28 ports with TD3 X7(BCM56870).

Dell N3248P-ON has 48x1G Cu ports including 802.3at Type-2 30W PoE and 4x10G SFP+ ports and 2x100G QSFP28 stacking ports in the rear.

Dell N3224PX-ON has 24x10G Cu ports including 802.3bt Type-4 99W PoE and 4x25G SFP28 ports and 2x100G QSFP28 stacking ports in the rear.

Under crossflow mode, configure loopback to a crossflow port which is added to OVS. The port will goes down if restart PICOS.


Allow "#" to be Included Shared Key
Allow "#" to be included in the shared key of TACAS+ session.


Speed Setting on SFP28 Ports in a Quad-SerDes Core
For the 4 ports in a singleQuad-SerDes Core, the default speed are set to 25G. And auto detection of the speed is disabled. The four port can link up only if set the speed of all the four ports to either 25G or 10G/1G. this new additions would cover AS7312, N3248PXE, S5248, AS7326, N3248EPX and other platforms.


Distinguish SFP/SFP+/SFP28
Mark SFP optics modules as SFP or SFP+ or SFP28 based on the type in the output of "run show system serial-number".

Via an extra L3 link, a 2 MLAG spine switches can ping to each other.

The configuration checking is added to make sure that only valid available OIDs can be configured to the views with respect to SNMPv3.

It's not all PDs (Powered Device) that send out LLDP with power-Via-MDI TLV initially when they request extra power via power negotiation. So the PICOS switch will send out LLDP with power-Via-MDI TLV initially if PoE is enabled on the specific port.

The client will fail to be authenticated if multiple configured RADIUS servers are reachable. 
121943.6.2Maximum PoE Available Power on N3248PXE-ON
the maximum PoE power is defined by PB (power bank) and high-line/low-line of the AC (Alternating Current). Aggressive/Redundancy mode is removed because it is not compatible with this policy of PoE power allocation.
